The Annual Giving Officer is a member of the Kean University Foundations (KUF) frontline development team.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESProvide support in building a strong, growing, multi-faceted, and deeply engaging annual giving program.
Conduct outreach via phone, email, and various communication methods to annual giving donors to identify and qualify potential leadership annual giving prospects ($1,000+) to hand off to the Senior Director of Annual Giving.
Prepare and submit detailed fundraising plans for annual giving activities, which include the strategy and plan for the execution of the solicitation and acknowledgment process.
Maintain contact with key annual giving donors, ensuring the implementation of a carefully orchestrated cycle of requests that are sensitized to the needs and preferences of donors and prospects.
Work in conjunction with university staff to create and manage the promotional and solicitation components of the Kean Fund for Excellence with an eye toward growing the program.
Working with senior Foundation officers, guide and participate in the creation of all annual giving collateral and content (such as solicitation and acknowledgment letters), including crafting effective solicitations for audience engagement, conversion, and stewardship.
Play a key role in data segmentation for purposes of customizing annual appeals.
Contribute to prospect research activities.
Support all annual giving activities with a focus on first time donors, renewing and upgrading of existing donors, as well as increasing the overall participation rate of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends.
Provide comprehensive and administrative support of Founders Day campaign.
Assistance with design and implementation of an effective multi-channel direct mail, e-philanthropy, tele-fund and personal solicitation campaign to a highly diverse set of constituencies in order to maximize unrestricted and annual giving dollars.
Develop and deliver donor analysis reports regularly.
Additional assignments and projects as needed.
QualificationsBachelors degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in development or a related field; preference is given to direct experience in an annual giving program.
Proven track record of garnering philanthropic support.
Knowledge of principles and best practices of development.
Ability to think creatively and strategically.
Knowledge and management of social media platforms.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Blackbauds Raisers Edge.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and moderate travel as needed.
Stay abreast of emerging creative approaches and innovations in annual giving.
Experience organizing donor stewardship events.
Experience in the philosophy and practice of philanthropy in the non-profit sector and demonstrated ability to work in the area of annual giving programs.
Demonstrated experience developing and establishing replicable processes for sustained growth in annual giving.
Demonstrated credibility necessary to influence and tactfully manage relationships with internal and external constituencies.
Affinity for working collaboratively to develop and execute agreed upon strategies.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and relate to a variety of diverse stakeholders.
Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural setting with commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in ones understanding of mission.
Ability to maintain and properly handle confidential or sensitive information.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
